Vault audit trail

Every change is logged and signed. How to view and export the trail.

Updated 2026-04-30vaultauditcompliance

The audit trail is the answer to every "who changed this and when" question. It is immutable and cryptographically signed.

What is logged

Every Vault read, write, push, and delete. Every filing edit, comment, redline, and submission. Every login and 2FA challenge. Every integration sync.

Where to view it

Two views:

  • Per-fact trail lives on each Vault entry. Click "History" on the entry detail panel.
  • Workspace trail lives at /audit-trail. Filterable by user, date, action, and entity.

Export

Export to PDF or CSV with one click. The PDF includes a hash chain so the export itself is self-verifying. This is the export your auditor wants during quarter-close.

Retention

Audit logs are retained for the life of the workspace plus seven years after termination. We do not let you delete audit logs, even as Owner. This is by design.

Practical use

The audit trail is most useful during disputes: a director claims a contract entry was wrong, and the trail shows when it was entered, by whom, with what source document. That clears most disputes in under five minutes.
