Upload documents to the Vault

Drop PDFs and DOCX files and have the system extract structured facts.

Updated 2026-04-30vaultdocumentsextract

Document upload is the fastest way to get a single contract, board minutes packet, or executed agreement into the Vault.

Supported formats

PDF (text-based or scanned), DOCX, XLSX, and email exports (.eml, .msg). Image-based PDFs are OCRed automatically.

Workflow

  1. Open the relevant register tab in the Vault.
  2. Click "Upload" in the action rail.
  3. Drag the file or pick from your computer.
  4. The extract agent runs for 30 to 90 seconds.
  5. Review the extracted fields and confirm.

What we extract

For a Material Contract: counterparty, effective date, term, governing law, termination provisions, and material payment obligations. For Litigation: caption, court, case number, plaintiff, defendant, claim summary, and current status. For each register, the extracted fields match the Tier 1 schema.

What gets stored

The original document is stored in our encrypted vault and indexed by the audit trail. The structured fields land in the register. You can always click through from a register entry to the source document.

When extraction fails

For unusual documents the extractor will flag low confidence and ask you to confirm field-by-field. You can skip the extractor entirely and fill the form manually.
