Bulk extract from a prior 10-K
Backfill 12 registers in 10 minutes from a single 10-K upload.
Bulk extract is the highest-leverage Vault operation. It takes a single 10-K and populates 12 of the 13 Tier 1 registers in one pass.
When to use it
After EDGAR backfill if anything is missing, or as your primary onboarding path if your CIK is new and EDGAR has no history.
What gets populated
Officers, Directors, Material Contracts, Litigation, Subsidiaries, Real Property, Patents, Cybersecurity (Item 1C), Human Capital, Equity Plans, Auditor History, Insurance.
The thirteenth register, Government Investigations, requires manual entry because the existence of an investigation is itself often confidential.
How long it takes
10 to 25 minutes end-to-end. The extraction itself is 3 to 5 minutes. The rest is your review of the extracted facts.
Review workflow
After extraction, you see a screen with each register pre-populated. Each fact has a confidence score (high, medium, low) and a link to the source passage in the 10-K.
For high confidence, accept all. For medium, accept selectively. For low confidence, the wizard highlights for your manual review and provides a side-by-side view with the source text.
Mistakes are recoverable
The bulk extract is non-destructive. If you have existing Vault entries that conflict with extracted facts, conflicts are surfaced for resolution rather than overwritten silently.
